Bernard Lubat in Qatar – 6th Katara European Jazz Festival – November, 9th  at 6:30 pm – Katara (esplanade)

On the occasion of the 6th Katara European Jazz Festival, Institut Français du Qatar has the pleasure to invite the French jazzman Bernard Lubat and his Quintet

Multi-instrumentalist, improviser hors pair, refined author, Bernard Lubat will bring his talent and extravagance to Qatar with his brilliant Quintet.

Throughout his long career, Bernard Lubat has explored various styles of music: from contemporary (Varèse, Xenakis, Berio) to variety, he accompanied famous French singers like Jacques Brel, Yves Montand and Claude Nougaro. But it is mainly jazz music that made him famous. He played with well-known artists such as Jean-Luc Ponty, Martial Solal or Eddy Louis while participating in the emergence of free jazz in France alongside Michel Portal, Jean-François Jenny-Clark and Jean Pierre Drouet.

A Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) graduate, he won the First Prize in percussions. He distinguished himself as Artist of the year at the French competition «Victoires du Jazz» (2009). He is also laureate of the Django-Reinhardt Prize (1972).
