Through the 18th century, Europe has been the center of a global movement involving philosophers, authors and scientists who celebrated the use of reason to fight against obscurantism. The French pavilion interrogate the persistence of this heritage in the present times with the digital exhibition “Enlightenment!” presented by the National Library of France (BnF). Ancient books from this period from the Qatar National Library will also be displayed.

The pavilion will showcase a selection of beautiful coffee table books on French historical sites from the Heritage collections, under the authority of the Centre des Monuments Nationaux (CMN-National Center for Historic Monuments). The CMN, a one-hundred-year-old establishment, is a French National Cultural Institution which has for missions the conservation of historical buildings and sites (heritage) and their collections, the sharing of knowledge and their presentation to the wider public. The CMN is the leading French operator in the field of heritage.
