Picasso-Giacometti exhibition
FEBRUARY 22 – MAY 21st, doha Fire Station

This winter in Paris, the Musée National Picasso presented the exhibition of two of the most important artists of the 20th century, highlighting their work and their relationships. The exhibition, presented by Qatar Museums in Doha, brings together for the first time in the Middle East the work of Pablo Picasso and Alberto Giacometti: paintings, drawings, sculptures while relying on archival documents.

Catherine Grenier, director of the foundation and curator of the exhibition, discovered the links between the two artists by consulting the archives of the Giacometti Foundation. Picasso and Giacometti had regular exchanges; visited each other and a real friendship has developed between them over several years.

In spite of more than twenty years apart, Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) and Alberto Giacometti (1907 – 1966) have thus exchanged throughout their career and have mutually influenced their respective works.

The exhibition features more than 120 pieces from the collections of the Musée National Picasso and the Giacometti Foundation.

A book will be published and several conferences are planned to strengthen the knowledge about the works of the two artists.
